BMW vs. Acura, a Closer Look at How the BMW X1 Compares to the Acura RDX

There are plenty of choices to consider and options to weigh when shopping for a new luxury SUV style vehicle in the greater Burlington area. But with eye-catching style and world-renowned BMW quality built-in, you'd be hard-pressed to find a model that compares favorably to the BMW X1 that's available now at The Automaster BMW in Shelburne.

A subcompact crossover that artfully combines world-class luxury with exhilarating performance, the X1 is a five-passenger, two-row member of the BMW SAV family of vehicles. But while it's a versatile and topnotch option for any Williston or Stowe commuter, we also know other models may be vying for your attention. Read on to learn a little more about one such SUV and how the BMW comes out ahead of it in a side-by-side comparison.

Size, Space, and Interior Comfort

While both of these models deliver the signature SUV style with four doors and two rows that drivers in the Hanover, NH area love, the BMW X1 is demonstrably smaller than the Acura RDX in a few areas. In fact, while the Acura RDX is a compact model, the BMW is a subcompact. But that doesn't mean you should expect an interior that's cramped or uncomfortable. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

On the outside, the Acura RDX measures more than 12 extra inches in length than the BMW X1, and it comes out as slightly taller as well. But on the inside, the BMW maximizes its space better and delivers two inches more headroom in both rows than the Acura model.

Performance and Efficiency

As the larger SUV, the Acura RDX gets a larger engine system standard. But the BMW X1 system will take you further on a tank of gas and help you get the most out of your gas budget, thanks to its greater efficiency and greater range.

The BMW X1 earns an estimated EPA rating of 24 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined. Comparatively, the Acura RDX EPA rating is 22 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and just 24 mpg combined. Plus, the BMW X1 has a range of 386 miles in the city per tank of gas and 531 miles on the highway, but the Acura SUV earns just 376 miles in the city and 479 miles on the highway per fill up.

Features and Amenities

Both of these SUV models have a variety of the latest tech and safety features that drivers from Plattsburgh, NY expect on a new luxury vehicle. Some of these features are standard equipment, many are optional, and all help make your ride safer, better connected, and more comfortable.

Despite the fact that both are comprehensively equipped, we think you'll find that the BMW X1 has more of what you're looking for than the Acura RDX. For example, while every BMW model gets standard parking sensors for the front and rear of the vehicle, this safety tech is only listed as optional for certain RDX models.

Additionally, the BMW X1 has optional add-ons available for every model that the Acura RDX does not. This includes the BMW exclusive M Sport Package, which is available on every X1 model and adds enhancements that include a unique wheel design, sport front seats, a sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a sport-tuned suspension system, and much more. You won't find the M Sport enhancements anywhere in the Acura lineup.
